If I had to describe ibis Styles Bangkok Silom in one sentence, I'd say: it's probably one of Bangkok's most 'rainbow-friendly and convenient' places to stay.
This time I stayed in the Silom area. When I returned to the hotel at night and looked up, the building's lighting lines actually had a nice design, and the green ibis logo stood out in the dark. The overall style is young, a bit like a boutique design hotel, but the price is quite affordable — good value for money.
The rooms follow a minimalist-modern style: clean, comfortable, and the space is decent for downtown Bangkok.
The key is the location is really convenient; it's not far on foot from MRT Silom or BTS Sala Daeng, and Silom's nightlife, bars and massage shops are basically within walking distance.
But the most interesting thing is breakfast time.
When you go to the restaurant for breakfast, you'll notice one thing:
Let's just say... the proportion of attractive fellow guests is very high.
Many of the travelers staying here are clearly from the rainbow/LGBTQ community.
Fit bodies, handsome guys, gym types, Europeans, Koreans, Japanese — all styles are represented.
Sometimes you even get the feeling:
Is this a hotel breakfast, or some kind of low-key gay social gathering?
The funniest moment is usually—
Halfway through breakfast, you open a dating app on your phone.
You'll see the distance list suddenly become very entertaining.
「0 m」
「10 m」
「20 m」
And many photos will make you think:
'Hey... isn't that the person who was just getting scrambled eggs?'
Silom is already one of Bangkok's best-known rainbow gathering areas, so as long as you stay nearby, your apps will be very lively.
Another huge plus is—
If you plan to go for a massage to relax.
It's just a few minutes' walk to popular places like The Prime Massage from here.
It's exactly the kind of distance where you can 'shower → walk downstairs → get a massage → slowly walk back to the hotel', which is really comfortable for travelers.
So if you are:
• Looking to stay in an LGBTQ-friendly area
• Want convenient transportation
• Want reasonable prices but a nice environment
• Want a chance to see many attractive fellow guests at breakfast
Then ibis Styles Bangkok Silom is actually a very good choice.
Sometimes travel is like that.
You originally just booked a hotel and ended up staying in a small rainbow universe. 🌈
