[The Binge Battle Diary] Every second week of the month — if you don't drink yourself into a blackout, how are you even one of us?

Honestly, as a gay man, if you still haven’t been to “信義大縱酒” yet, you really need to rethink your social life. There are so many hot guys and cute girls on site — back in the day you had to hit a bunch of bars to find these people, but now you don’t have to run around; they’re all here. Everyone is friendly and polite, and their smiles are so handsome and adorable.
The first time I went to the Big Drink was because my friends talked me into it. I thought it would just be a few people sipping beer by the roadside, but when I arrived I was stunned — it was basically an outdoor Gay Pride night market!
On the second Saturday night of every month, Xinyi District magically fills up with a huge crowd of gay men. Some dress super flashy, some are dressed extremely casually (which is to say, almost not dressed at all), and there are those muscular studs drinking and making friends right in the middle of the street. I was dressed too conservatively and a little shy, but after the third cocktail I finally let myself go.
The vibe is super free — you can bring your girlfriends or come alone to meet new people (or a date 👀). Everyone brings their own drinks; some regulars bring camping chairs, Bluetooth speakers, even little string lights, turning Xiangti Avenue into their own VIP bar area.
The most memorable time was when a DJ was spinning house mixes on site and a group just broke into dance, while someone nearby was handing out homemade cocktails. By the end I had no idea how many people I’d met or how many IGs I’d exchanged. The next morning I checked my Stories and found I’d been tagged in photos from five different circles — I laughed so hard.
This event has no tickets and no strict rules — just bring drinks and an open mind and join Taipei’s wildest, most authentic queer street party. The point is — you never know who you’ll meet tonight; it might be a future date, or someone you just swiped on on a dating app 😂
📌 Quick notes:
🗓 Every month on the second Saturday from 10 PM (you can get there early to claim a spot — your gay radar will definitely find the area)
📍 Xinyi District, around Xiangti Avenue or Songshou Road (exact spot can shift each time)
🍺 Bring your own drinks, cups, and good vibes
📲 Follow IG 👉 @powerdrinkers21 for the meeting point announcements
🙌 Have fun, don’t litter, and respect everyone’s space
Now I literally circle the second week on my calendar every month — no exaggeration. My friend even calls the Big Drink his “monthly social routine.” Once you come, you’ll get that feeling of “I’m proud to be gay and I’m going to drink to it.”
Next time you see me stumbling and dancing on the streets of Xinyi, remember to come say hi — I might have an extra shot to share 🍹
