Bangkok massage review: my first experience at The Paradise (天之堂)
Every time I come to Bangkok, visiting a massage shop is an indispensable part of my itinerary. I used to always think of the famous The Prime first, but during New Year this kind of popular place is almost fully booked by gay visitors from all over Asia, so this time I decided to try something different.
While strolling down Soi 6, I casually noticed a massage shop with a Chinese-character sign at the entrance — The Paradise 天之堂 Massage. There were a few young Thai guys sitting outside, and at a glance you could tell what kind of place it was. As for the massage skills? That had to be experienced firsthand.
First impressions and the venue
This place seems to have opened in recent years; the decor and facilities are quite good, and each room even has a private bathroom. Overall the environment was satisfactory. When I arrived at around one or two in the afternoon, there was only one masseur available. Not wanting to spend extra time waiting in line, I decided to give him a try.
The massage experience
The masseur was a slim young Thai guy, and I booked an oil massage. To be honest, his technique was a few steps behind The Prime — his pressure and methods felt relatively inexperienced, giving the impression he was more motivated by tips. The session wasn’t outstanding, but the prices are reasonable — a basic Thai massage is 250 baht per hour, and oil massage is 500 baht.
What was notable was that, at the end, he smiled and said, “I can do anything for you only 500 baht.” For a moment I thought, “Could the other services really be the same price?” It was an amusing and slightly bewildering experience.
Thoughts and suggestions
Overall, The Paradise feels more like a place to meet basic needs — the quality of the massages can be hit-or-miss. Of course, there may be skilled and earnest masseurs working there; I just didn’t encounter one this time. If you come in the evening, there may be more choices, and some of the young guys are reportedly quite good-looking.
If your goal is a high-quality massage, The Paradise might not be the best option. But if you just want to relax and satisfy simple needs, it’s worth a try. The service is affordable and the environment comfortable, making it an interesting backup option. Next time I come to Bangkok, I might try an evening visit to see if I can find a more satisfying experience.
