Can drinking coconut water restore virility? A 64-year-old man in Thailand recently discovered that after drinking coconut water, his long-dormant sex life found a new dawn. Because the effect was so strong, he could be intimate up to seven times a day. His wife, "exhausted," was quite distraught and had to ask the police to mediate, and after the story was exposed, local coconuts were frantically bought up.

According to the Daily Star, a 46-year-old woman told local police that her 64-year-old husband regained his sexual desire after drinking coconut water, wanting to be intimate up to "seven times" a day. Because they had not had sexual relations for a long time, she initially enjoyed that her husband had regained his vigour, but after a while he became addicted to drinking coconut water and asked her for sex every day, leaving her exhausted. She had to ask the police to come to their home to speak with her husband.

The couple's story went viral in Thailand, causing stalls selling coconut water to sell out, and many people firmly believe coconut water really has this effect. Wandee Paoponpreuk, a stall owner who sells coconut water locally, said coconuts are cheap, just 20 Thai baht each (about NT$18). Since the news broke, many customers buy four coconuts at a time and drink them right at the stall because they want to try whether the rumored effect is real.

Local physician Kampanant Pornyokrai pointed out that drinking coconut water can boost testosterone and increase male libido, but she added, "We still need more experiments and research on this issue before we can prove the effects of coconut water."
